Spring Fling 2008 (24th-26th May)
My first exhibition for Spring Fling proved to be a great success with well over 300 visitors attending over the weekend.
I am very grateful for those who came along to my show of work and that those who purchased my work went away feeling a huge sense of contentment and pride.
A huge amount of visitors were very knowledgeable about my work which I found very refreshing and goes to prove that the wet darkroom way of processing is far from dead, even in this digital world of capturing images.
I was astounded by the interest shown in the method I use and found that most visitors were amazed at the difference in quality of printing when compared side by side. I had visitors from far afield; Russia, Tasmania, South Africa, Holland, Germany etc as well as the UK.
A personal thank you goes out to you all.
Spring Fling is an event with considerable backing from Dumfries and Galloway Council and the European Union and encourages the public not only to visit the various galleries and be able to approach the artists but to see them at work or to discuss their art at eye level with the participants.
Digital Prints
Leighton has this year provided an opportunity to the buying public to not only to view and purchase his Fine Art work, but also to purchase digital reproduction prints from these masters as well as others, at a great reduction in price.
The Leighton Gallery
This year Leighton has improved his interaction with clients and the general public by opening a Gallery within his home, where clients will be able to view and purchase his work.
The Gallery is now fully open and visitors are very welcome to visit us during the times of opening.
Courses
Leighton is also planning short residential courses for those who wish to expand their photographic technique.
He is available for hands on tuition within the field of traditional photography explaining such areas as The Zone System, film proccessing, camera technique, composition and Black and White printing to archival standards.
These courses will cater for individuals or small groups (up to 6 persons), staying in his home where there will be ample opportunity to explore the breathtaking scenery of Dumfries and Galloway.
